Photon Total Cross - sections
We discuss present predictions for the total γγ and γp cross-sections, highlighting why predictions differ. We present results from the Eikonal Minijet Model and improved predictions based on soft gluon resummation.
متن کاملModels for Photon-photon Total Cross-Sections
We present here a brief overview of recent models describing the photon-photon cross-section into hadrons. We shall show in detail results from the eikonal minijet model, with and without soft gluon summation.
متن کاملIsolated Prompt Photon Cross Sections
In ee and in hadron-hadron reactions at collider energies, prompt photons are observed and their cross sections are measured only if the photons are relatively isolated in phase space. Isolation is required to reduce various hadronic backgrounds including those from the electromagnetic decay of mesons, e.g., π → 2γ. The essence of isolation is that a cone of half-angle δ is drawn about the dire...
متن کاملPhoton Cross Sections at Ecm = 2 Tev
Photon production rates have been studied by the DØ and CDF experiments in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Measurements of the inclusive isolated photon cross section and the di-photon cross section are presented, based on integrated luminosities of 0.3 fb −1 and 0.2 fb −1 , respectively. The results are compared to perturbative QCD calculations in various approximations.
متن کاملPhoton-photon Total Inelastic Cross-section *
We discuss predictions for the total inelastic γγ cross-section and their model dependence on the input parameters. We compare results from a simple extension of the Regge Pomeron exchange model as well as predictions from the eikonalized mini-jet model with recent LEP data. It is by now established that all total cross-sections, including photopro-duction, rise as the c.m. energy of the collid...
